De techniek van deze maand is de Embossing Crackle Techniek, die ook wel de Cracked Glass techniek genoemd wordt. Een superleuke techniek, die ik al een hele poos niet meer gedaan had, dus het was leuk er weer mee aan de slag te gaan!
Technique of this month is the Embossing Crackle technique, also known as the Cracked Glass technique. A very nice technique that I had not been doing for a long time, so it was fun creating something with it!
Ik besloot om de techniek in het klein toe te passen, en ik heb dan ook een aantal winterse Embellishments er mee gemaakt die ik vervolgens op kaartjes heb verwerkt.
I thought it would be nice to make small versions of Cracked Glass, and made some Winter-Embellishments with it, which I used on these cards
Om deze embellishments te maken heb je Clear Embossingpoeder nodig, VEELLLLL clear embossingpoeder wel te verstaan, want je moet een dikke laag hebben om het te kunnen laten craqueleren.
For this technique you need Clear Embossingpowder... LOTS of it! That's because you have to make a thick layer of it to let it crackle.
Eerst stempelde ik de afbeeldingen, de geweldige sneeuwpoppen uit Spirited Snowmen, met Memento Inkt en kleurde ze in met Stampin'Blends.
First I stamped the images, those funny snowmen from the set Spirited Snowmen, and colored them with Stampin'Blends
Vervolgens ponste ik ze uit en sponsde ik de randjes een beetje.
I punched them with circle punches and sponged the edges a bit.
Vervolgens bracht ik de Crackle laag aan. Ik ga hieronder stap voor stap vertellen hoe ik dat gedaan heb
After that I added the glossy Crackle layer. I will tell you, step by step, how I did it.
Stap 1: Ik depte de rondjes helemaal in met Versamark inkt, gewoon direct met het Versamark inktkussen.
Step 1: I covered the images completely with Versamark ink by dabbing with the Inkpad.
Stap 2: Ik bedekte de rondjes met Clear Embossingpowder en verhitte dat met de Heat Tool totdat het gesmolten was.
Step 2, I covered the surface with Clear embossingpowder and melted it with my Heat Tool
Stap 3: Meteen na het verhitten bedekte ik het nog hete embossinglaagje met nog meer poeder, ook dit verhitte ik weer.
Step 3: Immediately after melting the powder I added more on the glossy layer while it was still very hot. I also melted that powder.
Stap 4: Ik herhaalde stap 3 zo'n vijf a zes keer, net zolang tot ik echt een dikke glanzende laag had en liet het vervolgens afkoelen.
Step 4: I repeated step 3 about 5 or 6 times...until there was a thick glossy layer on the pieces. I let them cool down.
Stap 5: Ik legde alle rondjes een kwartiertje in de vriezer.
Step 5: I put all the images in the freezer for about a quarter.
Stap 8: Ik haalde de rondjes weer uit de vriezer en ging ze zachtjes bol buigen. Daardoor barstte de glossy laag. Als ze zo koud zijn gaat dat heel makkelijk. Ik sponsde de oppervlakte een beetje met wat inkt om de Craquele wat beter zichtbaar te maken.
Step 6: When the images came out of the freezer I bended them backwards a bit until the surface cracked. That happens very soon when your embossingpowder is as hard as it is now. I sponged the surface a bit with some Ink to make the cracks more visible
Stap 7: Met de Layering Circles Framelits maakte ik voor elke embellishment een passende Scallop Circle en daar plakte ik de rondjes op. Dit gaf een mooi randje aan de rondjes en zo waren ze klaar om op mijn kaartjes te verwerken.
Step7: With the Layering Circle Framelits I diecut some matching Scallop Circles. I adhered the images on top of it. This framed the images and made them look nicer. Now they were ready to use on my cards.
De achtergronden stempelde ik met de Buffalo Check achtergrondstempel, en ik voegde daar wat extra lijntjes aan toe met de Watercolor Pencils. Dat is wat subtieler dan de Stampin'Write Markers, waar het natuurlijk ook prima mee kan!
I stamped the backgrounds with the Buffalo Check Stamp and added some extra lines with my Watercolorpencils. That's a bit more subtle than the Stampin'Write Markers with which you can draw the lines too ofcourse.
De gave teksten maakte ik met de Merry Christmas Thinlits en de bijpassende Merry Christmas to all stempelset... Goh wat vind ik die mooi! Je kunt er zelf allerlei kerstige wensen mee samenstellen en ze zijn zo prachtig om te zien! ( Stempels en Dies zijn samen met Bundle korting te bestellen!)
The Beautiful Sentiments were made with the Merry Christmas Thinlits and the matching Merry Christmas to All Stampset... Woww I love that bundle zo much... You can make all kind of Christmassy Sentiments and they are just GORGEOUS to look at!
Ik hoop dat je mijn variant op deze techniek leuk vindt! Het is echt helemaal te gek om je eigen embellishments te maken helemaal naar je eigen zin en in je eigen stijl en kleuren... Deze techniek leent zich er geweldig voor! Met zo'n klein kunstwerkje op je kaart kun je het verder eigenlijk heel eenvoudig houden. Zo valt je Eyecatcher extra goed op!
I hope you like my version of this technique! It is really great to make and customize your very owmn embellishments, and the Cracked Glass technique makes them look so special. An Eyecatcher like this makes your card stand out, even though the rest of the card is quite simple!
