Freestyle achtergronden met Christmas Scottie - Totally Techniques - Tearing/Ripping

Welcome to this Bloghop of the International Totally Technique Designteam! This month we have chosen another fun technique again and together we will show you several examples of it! Happy to see you here!

Deze maand gaan we met een oude klassieke techniek aan de slag, maar tegelijkertijd eentje die helemaal hip, hot en happening is! Namelijk SCHEUREN!

This time we will work with an old classic technique, but also one that is totally on trend at the same time. that is, tearing/ripping!

Voor deze bloghop maakte ik een kerstkaart, met een Schots tintje!

For this bloghop I made a Christmascard with a Scottish touch!

De kleine Schotse Terrier was mijn inspiratie en uitgangspunt!

The little Scottish Terrier was my inspiration and starting point.

De geweldige set Christmas Scottie is zo ontzettend leuk en origineel! Echt eens een heel ander thema om kerstkaarten mee te maken!

The gorgeous set Christmas Scottie is so fun and original! Really a totally different image and theme for making Christmascards!

Toen ik nadacht over wat ik voor deze bloghop zou gaan maken en ik door mijn stempels snuffelde, zag ik deze set, en toen plopte meteen het basisidee tevoorschijn. Ik zou iets gaan doen met het Schotse thema, en dat combineren met de scheurtechniek. En zo maakte ik deze freestyle achtige achtergrond!

When I was thinking what I would make for this bloghop I browsed through my stampcollection and passed by this set. And at that moment the idea popped in my mind! I would do something with the Scottish theme, and mixed that with the Tearing technique. And that is how I came up with this freestyleísh background!

Als ik aan Schotland denk, denk ik eerst aan de groene landerijen, maar ook aan doedelzakken, kilts en natuurlijk de Schotse Ruit! Een ruit met volop achtergrond, geschiedenis en betekenis!

Ik besloot een heel vrije interpretatie te maken van deze ruit, en combineerde technieken om tot deze gekke, stoere achtergrond te komen.

When I think of Scotland the first things that come to my mind are the green countryside, the bagpipes, the kilts and ofcourse the Scottish tartan! A pattern with a huge background, history and meaning!

I decided to make a free interpretation of the tartan, and mixed and matched techniques to get this quirky, rugged background!

In deze blogpost vertel ik je graag over de opbouw van deze kaart, waarbij ik aan het maken al zo veel plezier heb beleefd!

In this blogh]post I love sharing with you how this card was made. I really enjoyed every step of it!

Het hondje stempelde ik met Versamark en behandelde ik vervolgens met zwart embossingpoeder! Daarna ponste ik deze uit met de Scottie Dog pons. Het strikje stempelde ik met Real Red inkt en ponste ik ook uit.

The Scottie was stamped with Versamark ink, and then heat embossed with black embossingpowder! Then I punched it with the Scottie Dog Punch! The little blow was stamped in Real Red, and was punched out with the same punch.

Het strikje plakte ik op het hondje met Dimensionals. In het midden kwamen een paar Red Rhinestones als leuk accentje.

The little bow was adhered to the dog with Dimensionals. In the centre of it some Red Rhinestones were added as a fun accent.

Met de Stylish Shapes Dies stanste ik vierkanten uit Vellum en uit Basic White cardstock. Hierop bevestigde ik het hondje. Door het vellum zie je mooi de ondergrond doorlopen.

De tekst stempelde ik, heatemboste ik in wit, en knipte ik in losse strookjes.

With the Stylish Shapes Dies I diecut two squares out of Vellum and Basic White Cardstock.I adhered the Scottie on top of it. Through the vellum you can still see the pattern in the background.

The text was heat embossed in White, and cut in strips.

Het is altijd leuk om ook de binnenkant van een kaart bijpassend te versieren!

It is also fun to decorate the inside of the card too!

En dan nu de "Schotse"achtergrond!

And now the "Scottish"background!

Ik wilde een echte kerstige Tartan/ruit maken, dus liet me inspireren door bijpassende kerstkleuren. Ik ging aan de slag met de Artistic Mix Decorative Masks en bouwde in lagen de achtergrond op, op een half A4 vel Basic White cardstock. De kleuren die ik koos waren Shaded Spruce, Real Red, Basic Gray, en een basis van Smoky Slate Ik liet kleuren en patronen overlappen om veel variatie te krijgen.

I wanted to achieve a Christmassy Tartan, so I was Inspired by classic colours. I started with the Artistic Mis Decorative Maskt and built up the background in layers, on a half A4 sheet of Basic White cardstock. The used colours were Shaded Spruce, Real REd, Basic Gray and a base of Smoky Slate. I made sure colours and layers overlapped randomly, to get a background with a lot of variation.

Met de ruitjesstempel uit de set Christmas Scottie bracht ik wat meer contrast aan door deze te stempelen met Black Memento inkt.

With the tartanstamp from the Christmas Scottie set I brought in some extra contrast, by stamping it with Black Memento ink.

En kijk, daar was mijn freestyle versie van de Schotse ruit.

And there was my freestyle interpretation of the Scottish Tartan.

Ik wilde een slimline kaart maken dus sneed een stuk af van het benodigde formaat. De andere twee stukken had ik over om te scheuren en de lagen aan te brengen.

I wanted to make a Slimline Card, so I cut a piece of the background in the needed size. The other two pieces were used for tearing and layering!

Het scheuren en stapelen geeft een leuke variatie in de motieven en de ruige scheurrandjes zorgen voor structuur en contrast.

The tearing and layering gives lots of variation in the patterns, and the rough torn edges bring structure and contrast.

Het leek me leuk om het freestyle effect te versterken met een stoer stikselrandje. Ik gebruikte hiervoor de geweldige stempelset Stitchery! Door de stiksels met zwart Embossingpoeder te behandelen vallen ze meer op!

Ik vind deze stiksels, met al hun imperfecties en details, echt he-le-maal te gek!

It seemed like a nice idea to increase the feestyle effect of the background with a cool stitched edge! I used the awesome stampset Stitchery for this! By using black embossingpowder on the stamped stitches the pop more on the intricate background.

I just love those perfectly imperfect stampset!

Na het inkten van de randjes was de achtergrond klaar om op de kaart te verwerken!

After inking the edges the background was ready to be added to the card!

Alle gebruikte kleuren komen terug in de laagjes onder het gemaakte paneel. Zo wordt het mooi omlijst en komen achtergrond en voorgrond mooi uit!

All used colours can also been seen in the layers under the made panel. That way all the element are nicely framed, and background and foreground stand out nicelyl
